It's a Lifestyle

For the last four years Nick has been volunteering at the Western Australian Reptile Park in the Swan Valley. Cleaning enclosures, feeding animals and teaching visitors about respecting reptiles and conservation are all in a day’s work for Nick and while it can be tough, physical labour, he wouldn’t have it any other way.

The WA Reptile Park is almost entirely volunteer run and owner Gane Doyle Jr says they wouldn’t be able to keep the doors open to the public without the dedicated work of the volunteers, like Nick, who give up their time to support the park and all the creatures that call it home.

While Nick doesn’t have any immediate plans to leave, he certainly has big dreams. He hopes to one day follow in the footsteps of two of his biggest idols, Steve Irwin and Outback Wrangler Matt Wright, to pursue an exciting career of croc catching in the Northern Territory. Nick knows this isn’t exactly a lucrative future but he says it’s not about the money. It’s about helping the animals.

Nick’s attitude is infectious. He loves the work, he loves the people and he just loves the animals. Like he says, it’s a lifestyle.
