The Forgotten Animals

Voyage Kitchen called upon their community to get involved in a Mother’s Day market to raise funds for Animals Aid Abroad.
Animals Aid Abroad is an Australian registered International charity that is run by volunteers, who are dedicated to improving the living conditions and treatment of working animals around the world. Founder and CEO of the organisation Janet Thomas, first got involved with improving the conditions for working animals in Egypt after accompanying a school trip to the Alexandria zoo.
Mrs Thomas said the main goal of the Animals Aid Abroad is to relieve suffering, abuse and pain of working animals.
“We try to give opportunities and resources to the people who work with suffering animals to ensure they treat their animals with compassion and kindness.” Mrs Thomas said.
Local members of the Voyage Kitchen community showed their support for the organisation on May 5, by creating hand crafted and home-made gifts to sell at Voyage Kitchens Mother’s Day market. All funds raised were donated to Animals Aid Abroad, to assist in the over worked and abused working horses, donkeys, camels and dogs worldwide.
Owner of Voyage Kitchen, Barbara Hacker has been involved with Animals Aid Abroad for three years. Mrs Hacker said the Mother’s Day market was a great way to bring people together on a Saturday morning and to be active in doing something to help the forgotten animals.
